Making Room for the Disney Family: Belgard’s 2021 ‘Make Room Outside’ Summer Giveaway Winner

Our 2021 Belgard Make Room Outside Summer Giveaway, in partnership with POLYWOOD®, was one to remember! From a pool of hundreds of essay applicants, we selected a special family to receive a professionally installed fire pit living room including a Belgard fire pit, seating wall, and a set of two POLYWOOD® Modern Adirondack chairs to give their backyard a style upgrade. Tiara Disney and her family now have a cozy outdoor living room to enjoy the summer and every season for years to come. 

An accessible, beautiful backyard  

Tiara entered with hopes of creating a safe, accessible and comfortable backyard for her daughter. Before the redesign, their yard and outdoor area were predominantly gravel, making it hard for her daughter to maneuver her wheelchair across the uneven surfaces. The Disney family loved to barbeque but needed a space where they could enjoy a meal outdoors and easily connect as a family.  

After hearing Tiara and her family’s story, we connected with SiteOne Landscape Supply, Sunburst Landscaping and Arizona Landscape Contractors’ Association to create an ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act Standards for Accessible Design) compliant backyard fit for all their outdoor activities. Our goal is always to help homeowners customize their backyard to their unique needs and style, which is why working with the Disney family was such a wonderful experience.  

Enjoying their space year-round 

Today, the family has the space they need to gather and relax outside with family and friends – and one that is perfectly accessible for their daughter. The Disney family has their own outdoor sanctuary that is functional for their everyday life and includes: 

• Lafitt Grana Sierra paver patio for easy and smooth wheelchair access  
• Artforms fire pit for family fun   
• Set of two POLYWOOD Modern Adirondack chairs for stylish seating 
• Built-in Artforms bench with planter details, providing durable additional seating   
• Integrated lighting for extended use and safety  
• Irrigation system for ease of use   
• Turf yard for ease of maintenance   
• Landscaping and shade trees to combat the Arizona heat
