2010 HNA | GIE+EXPO

Belgard is gearing up for the upcoming Hardscape North America (HNA) Trade Show to be held in conjunction with the Green Industry and Equipment (GIE) Expo in Louisville, KY, October 28-30 at the Kentucky Exposition Center.  The two shows will combine efforts to offer participants expanded education opportunities and workshops. Belgard Pavers Selected for “The Ultimate Outdoor Home”

Belgard recently partnered with Garden Design Magazine and several other partners to create “The Ultimate Outdoor Home” at the American Society for Landscape Architects’ 2010 Annual Meeting and Expo. The team spent 36 hours transforming a 1,200-square-foot space on the expo floor using 45,000 pounds of Belgard pavers, 12,000 pounds of plants and 7,920 pounds of sand. The four-day show, held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, hosted 5,242 landscape architecture professionals (the second largest crowd in the event’s history).

“The Ultimate Outdoor Home” included a patio and walkway featuring Belgard’s Mega Arbel, Mega Lafitt, Subterra pavers an outdoor kitchen with a Bristol grill island from the Belgard Elements collection.

Belgard’s Urbana Pavers Selected for FOX News Charlotte’s Outdoor Kitchen

The Blue Max Terrace, featuring Belgard Urbana pavers, is the newest addition to the set at FOX News Charlotte. Belgard partnered with Blue Max Materials to plan, design and install the 14′ x 18′ terrace. The space was designed to include a number of items from Belgard’s product partners, including Harmony Outdoor Living, Chicago Brick Oven and MediumRare. The project began with several planning sessions, which resulted in a 3D rendering of the space generated by Harmony’s Sketchup software.

Upon finalizing the rendering, Blue Max and Belgard worked together to secure materials and construct the terrace on site at FOX Charlotte’s studio. The plan incorporated modular units from Harmony’s Wexford collection, a gas grill from MediumRare and a brick oven from Chicago Brick Oven. Belgard’s Urbana 60mm pavers were chosen to complete the project.

The finishing touches were a set of 3 engraved pavers provided by Pinnacle Stone and landscaping provided by Pine Lake Nursery.

How to Host a Belgard Dealer Event

Across the nation, Belgard sales representatives have been teaming up with local dealers to host half-day events known as Contractor Days and DIY Clinics. These events drive trade professionals and homeowners to dealer locations by offering hands-on activities, personal attention from Belgard staff and, occasionally, free food! Contractor Days and DIY Clinics are a great way for dealers to build and maintain relationships with local contractors, design professionals and homeowners. In addition, the events also allow dealers to experience the true partnership and quality service that Belgard provides.

Local sales representatives partner with dealers to schedule and promote these events. A Contractor Day or DIY Clinic should be scheduled approximately 4-6 weeks in advance. This allows Belgard and the dealer enough time to promote the event through word-of-mouth, email campaigns, counter top displays and social media. Authorized Belgard dealers can also use co-op funding to promote the event through radio, T.V. and newspaper ads. Belgard representatives held the dealer plan and execute activities for the event and work alongside the dealer to ensure the success of these events.

Paragon Supply in Syracuse, NY recently hosted a Contractor Day. Corey Ogiba and Ray Francis, local members of Belgard’s sales team, pitched in to promote the event and cooked pizzas for more than 40 contractors during the event. Bill Kellish, Vice President and General Manager for Paragon, was extremely pleased with the success of the event. Bill commented, “Belgard’s support in hosting our Contractor Days has been invaluable to Paragon Supply. Our customers gain useful product knowledge while enjoying themselves, as well. Belgard Leads the Way for a Rebounding Industry

The Joint Center for Housing Studies, Harvard’s center for research on U.S. housing, released an article last week stating that a healthy rebound for remodeling is expected in 2010. According to the article, research suggests that annual spending will reach nearly a 5% growth rate in 2010.

Director of the JCHS, Nicolas P. Retsinas, stated, “The gradual recovery in the broader economy should encourage more remodeling spending by homeowners. This year could produce the first annual spending increase for the industry since 2006.”

Belgard has been preparing for this increase by boosting efforts on the national and local levels to raise awareness and improve education for both trade professionals and homeowners.
