After years of long-term supplier agreements with Techniseal®, a world leader in polymeric sand and paver maintenance products, Oldcastle® Architectural officially made the company part of the family with the acquisition of Techniseal completed on May 20, 2016.
Inventers of the polymeric sand category, Techniseal has long been the preferred jointing material used with installations of Belgard pavers, part of Oldcastle’s premier brand of concrete pavers and retaining wall products. Prior to the development of polymeric sand, paver joints were typically filled with fine grit sand, which washed away easily and also allowed for rapid weed growth.
“Techniseal revolutionized the industry by inventing a product that would seal the paver joints but remain flexible to prevent cracking,” said Ken O’Neill, Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Product Development at Oldcastle. “And now they’ve done it again with their new NextGel Jointing Sand. We’re excited to have innovators like this as part of the Oldcastle team.”
The recently developed NextGel Jointing Sand consists of a specialized chemical composition that allows it to be virtually dust free, with no haze, 50 percent faster wetting, and 40 percent faster installation over standard polymeric sand.
“NextGel is faster and easier for the contractor to apply, which helps them turn jobs around more quickly, and also helps eliminate call-backs from homeowners complaining about a haze on their pavers. The bottom line is lower labor costs and higher profit margins,” O’Neill said.
Working together, Techniseal and Oldcastle look forward to continued growth in the industry and continued development of product innovations and contractor support services, including technical and sales training programs.
