Attendees Step into the Future at the Belgard Booth

Belgard made quite a splash at the 2017 HNA tradeshow held in Louisville, Kentucky, in October. As Platinum Sponsors, this year’s expansive Belgard booth showcased design innovation from inspiration to installation. Here are some of the highlights from this year’s event.


Much of the design of the Belgard booth centered on creative uses for Belgard products, including built-in seating, water features, a linear firepit and a vertical garden. One of the most popular areas of the booth was the “Outdoor Spa” section, which included a hanging bed and an outdoor shower that incorporated Riverstone permeable pavers for water infiltration. Booth attendees were also interested in learning that many municipalities offer tax incentives and rebates to homeowners and businesses that install permeable pavers.


Booth attendees had the opportunity to test Belgard’s new Virtual Reality platform offered by the Belgard Design Studio, which was very well-received. Contractors learned that by submitting “before” photos and a design sketch to the Design Studio, they can get photorealistic 3-D imagery and have it converted into a 360-degree view, viewable with a smart phone inserted into VR goggles. This 360-degree view allows the homeowner to become immersed in the design and experience it as though standing in the finished space. This tremendous sales tool is free to Belgard Authorized Contractors and available for a nominal fee to those who are not authorized partners.


Attendees were attracted to the contemporary look of Belgard Porcelain Pavers, particularly the Noon style, which offers the look of wood with the durability of a paver. They were especially drawn to the fact that porcelain pavers have so many options in terms of installation bases and can be installed over sand, grass, gravel, a traditional paver base, existing concrete, or a pedestal system. And for installation of a variety of thin paver products over existing concrete, contractors were exceedingly interested in learning more about the new Techniseal® DriBond™ advanced dry mudset, which installs like sand, sets like concrete, and allows contractors to turn jobs significantly faster.


Throughout the course of the show, Belgard conducted an ongoing informal focus group to study interest in the possibility of outdoor kitchen packages, which could include a variety of outdoor appliances, grills and smokers—including various sizes of the Big Green Egg®. Interest level justified further examination of this concept. More information will be released at a later date.


Belgard was excited to sponsor the HNA Installer Championship, which pitted teams of installers from across the U.S. and Canada in a battle of skill based on the criteria of safety, craftsmanship and compliance to industry best practices. Belgard hosted two gatherings over the course of this year’s HNA show. On Dealer Day, before the show opened to the general public, Belgard hosted a dealer reception in the Belgard booth. On the second night of the show, Belgard also hosted an off-campus Contractor Party. Both events were well-attended—the Contractor Party hosted nearly 600 guests—and a good time was had by all.


Belgard was also excited to be a sponsor of the Learning Demos tent, which was packed throughout the show with attendees wanting to learn more about the installation of innovative time-saving products, like Belgard® Elements™ fireplaces and Techniseal® DriBond™.


Always a highlight of the show, HNA announced this year’s best of the best, awarding top honors to the best hardscape installations in a variety of residential and commercial categories. Belgard was pleased to have products showcased in 12 of the honored designs, placing in 10 of the 16 categories. »Read the full story.
